Coming and Going

This video shows field bees coming and going. During daily external check-ups, I am looking for this reassurance that the colony did not disappear overnight. I especially want to see bees returning with pollen packs. Workers survive on honey, but the developing brood requires pollen for protein. Incoming pollen thereby indicates that the colony is raising a new generation. In the video, you can see two bees import pollen, one through the right hole at about 10 seconds and another through the left hole at about 13 seconds. Look for the white blobs behind the wings. 19 seconds, 561 kB, no audio, WebM
