Natchez Trace Parkway – Road & trace
I followed the Natchez Trace Parkway on my way back from a road trip to New Orleans and
The NTP is a scenic, cultural, and historical roadway managed by the National Park Service.
Its two-lanes run 444 miles from Natchez, MS, to Nashville, TN
(and cross into AL for a short stretch).
The speed limit is 50 mph, and commercial traffic is prohibited.
My leisurely drive spanned two and one-half days in perfect weather.
At night, I pitched my tent in the parkway's free campgrounds.

(TR) Open road ahead! Traffic was sparse all along.
(BL) A last rest stop on a quiet morning; only a few more miles to go.
(BR) A short stretch of the actual trace, worn deep by travelers.
