Dorothy H Mohn Memorial Swim

The Brigantine Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Lodge hosts the Dorthy H. Mohn Memorial One Mile Bay Swim during its annual Bayfest fund-raising cookout. The cookout behind the Lodge sells the likes of crab cakes, steamed shrimp and clams, corn-on-the-cob, hamburgers, hot dogs, funnel cake, soda, and beer. Live(?) bands provide entertainment. This party atmosphere is perhaps a stronger draw than the race itself for the handful of swimmers who participate. Logistics are simple. (The notes below are based on the slightly sketchy memory of my only attendance in 2005.)
